I have always admired Basquiat as a person, I’m in love with him as an artist as well of course. In Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks Exhibition I could get a glimpse on the thought process behind Basquiat’s art. I could almost feel as if I was with him at that exact moment in time.
Within my designer perspective I find my notebooks to be something really personal and almost untouchable, so it was an honor to be able to see his and learn from it.
It was very inspiring to see the importance of his writing in his work. And is here where I had a chance to reflect about how crucial writing is in my own creative process.
It is such a shame that he left us so early, but at least we have his art to learn and to celebrate the life and talent of such a unique person. His legacy and inspiration will be pass on by many future generations.
This exhibition is going on @ the Brooklyn Museum through August 23, and I really recommend you to check it out!
